(Though, I’m pretty sure it’s the type of cancer that comes from being a full-time writer on your show’s spin-off show.) Mystic Falls is finally home to our favorite abominations again, but that’s only because Kai sucks out the magic from the Traveler’s spell and gives himself free reign over the town’s Happy Meals with feet (the citizens). Liz returns to play the meddling mom in Stefan and Caroline’s drama, but whoops - now she has cancer. “Christmas Through Your Eyes” gives us Christmas, Mystic Falls style, which is of course the most depressing thing ever. I think part of season six’s success right now is that it’s looking more at Mystic Falls (and Whitmore) in the context of the characters who live there and not just the Salvatores and Elena. We would get some every now and then, but seeing how Elena met Damon first isn’t exactly what I’m talking about. The episode features flashbacks to Mystic Falls Christmas past (20, which makes me poke the timeline even more because they’re freshmen in the former year for sure), and it makes me wonder why the show waited so long to bust out more Mystic Falls flashbacks. That’s a great way to end the first half of a season that is far and away the best (again, redundant, I know) this show has had in years. I can’t remember the time I watched an episode of The Vampire Diaries and was so invested in everything about it.
Plus, I’m genuinely interested in everything about this season’s mythology and villain. I’m probably beginning to sound redundant, but again, the dialogue is extra sharp in this episode of The Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries broke the hearts of fans everywhere with some of the character deaths. Not bad for an episode of television named after a Gloria Estefan song.

Looking back at Legacies, it was more lighthearted at times than its predecessors, certainly not featuring the crushing deaths that the original series did. However, there is word that more shows are in the pipeline, so the future could be bright.
Updated on June 20th, 2022 by Kevin Pantoja: The news that the spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, Legacies, is ending means that it could be the conclusion of the entire franchise. These Vampire Diaries deaths were so heartbreaking they had fans reaching for the tissue box. Being so attached from episode to episode meant that certain character deaths hit hard. Fans were enamored by its main and supporting characters throughout its 8 seasons on the air. Updated on April 27th, 2021 by Gabriela Silva: The Vampire Diaries was a beloved show that amassed a huge fanbase for its vampire storyline. Whatever the reason, we've narrowed it down to the ten deaths we feel were the most heartbreaking. Sometimes it was because a beloved character was gone, other times it was the impact it had on those closest to them, and other times it was because of some heroic act. A lot of them didn't end up being permanent because dealing with the supernatural the way The Vampire Diaries did allow them to play loosely with these things.Įven with most deaths being undone, they still carried a lot of emotional weight. During its eight seasons, nearly every main character died. Few shows have featured as many on-screen deaths as The Vampire Diaries.
